Job summary

About the role As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will be required to provide a high quality, recovery focused support to our clients who have a range of mental health needs as well as other support needs including learning disabilities, physical health issues and substance misuse, whilst promoting independence and social inclusion. We are looking for someone to work across both our Newcastle Supported Housing and South Tyneside service, therefore a driving licence is essential.

Main duties of the job

* To step up on request to Team Manager role in a Team Manager's absence * To ensure that recovery goals identified using MHM Support Planning and outcome tools are met. * To encourage service users to recognise, understand and manage factors that affect their mental wellbeing and physical health * To increase choice and involvement of service users through access to peer support and through volunteering opportunities * To empower individuals to identify and overcome obstacles to success in a achieving their self-determined goals engendering self-belief * To record and feedback to clients about their progress and achievements and to identify further goals which help them achieve their aspirations * To work with a range of partners and external agencies to ensure clients benefit from personalised and joined up support * To work as a team member, sharing information and supporting colleagues, peer workers/volunteers ensuring they have the knowledge, information, and resources to be successful in their roles and make a positive and valued contribution to the service. * Participate in the monitoring requirements of the service by providing statistical and qualitative information on activities, success stories and outcomes achieved * To maintain accurate records as required by policies and procedures, using appropriate paper and electronic systems. * To maintain timely, accurate details of clients service and support activities and outcomes achieved

About the role As a Mental Health Recovery Worker, you will be required to provide a high quality, recovery focused support to our clients who have a range of mental health needs as well as other support needs including learning disabilities, physical health issues and substance misuse, whilst promoting independence and social inclusion. We are looking for someone to work across both our Newcastle Supported Housing and South Tyneside service, therefore a driving licence is essential. We are passionate about delivering recovery focused support to our clients. You will be competent in working alone and as part of a team. With experience of working within a community based, mental health setting, you should be able to inspire, engage and motivate people. With the proven ability to identify barriers, understand need and support people to achieve their goals the role will include one to one engagement, facilitating activities within the service and community, administrative tasks, sign posting and engaging people in other provision. You will work alongside Peer Support Workers (PSW) and professionals to achieve the best person-centered care, promote independence, and achieve personal outcomes. Either through, joint working with other services to support them to make reasonable adjustments or PSW so service users can learn and practice skills. About you You will have experience of working with Mental Health and will be able to inspire and engage people and have the ability to identify barriers and understand client needs, while possessing excellent motivational skills. This will include one to one engagement and facilitating group-based activities, sign posting and engaging people in mainstream provision. You will have an understanding of working with people with a variety of complex needs including mental health, learning, physical and substance misuse would be an advantage for this post. Your knowledge of working within a community-based service is essential and will have equipped you with the relevant communication and interpersonal skills required for the role. Driving license desired but not essential. It is essential that you hold a NVQ Health and Social Care level 2 or level 3 and be willing to develop further as the role requires.
