Working in partnership with Midlands Partnership Foundation Trust in the Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent Wellbeing (IAPT) Team, which is an established and high performing Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) team. We are looking for experienced and motivated Senior/Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners to join our South Staffordshire teams to help continue our great success of delivering high quality interventions to our service users.

Main duties of the job

Are you a qualified PWP looking for the next step in your career?

Here at MHM we support our PWPs to progress in their careers by offering access to various CPD opportunities including LTC and Supervision training as well as supporting those who want to take another route, into their CBT high intensity training. This has recently created opportunities for Senior PWPs within our South Staffordshire teams.

As one of our new Senior PWPs, you will join a vibrant, welcoming team of practitioners, who are committed to promoting the high-quality interventions offered at Step 2.

As a qualified PWP, with at least 12 months post qualification experience, you will have proven experience of delivering assessments and PWP interventions, with clients of all ages and from a range of cultural backgrounds. You will share our passion for promoting meaningful and effective therapeutic experiences for clients at Step 2 and will have the clinical leadership skills to offer case management and clinical skills supervision, to PWPs at all stages of their career.

You must be registered as an accredited PWP with the BABCP or BPS.

Reporting to: Head of Talking Matters

Duties to include:

  • Provide assessment and low intensity interventions e.g psycho-educational interventions, Guided Self Help, to patients registered with GP practices/health centres, drawing from CBT theories and techniques.
  • Provide a service that is comprehensive and accessible to a broad range of patients who have common mental health problems and who are over 16 years of age
  • To provide a service that is equitable and non-discriminatory in terms of age, gender, ethnicity and disability.
  • Support GPs and other primary care workers in making appropriate referrals and in carrying out the mental health aspects of their own roles.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other service providers in the statutory and voluntary sectors and redirect patients to other sources of appropriate support within the local community as required.
  • Develop a knowledge of the locality and its services and facilities, particularly in relation to mental health issues.
  • Provide a service that is flexible, as far as possible, to meet the demands of the client.
  • Liaise as appropriate with secondary care mental health services and social service departments.
  • Conduct risk assessments, prepare risk management plans and initiate appropriate action where indicated (including requests for mental health act assessments and referrals to relevant secondary care services).

Supervision and Training

  • Undertake appropriate clinical supervision on a regular basis in accordance with the relevant professional guidelines and policies
  • Provide clinical supervision and/or case management supervision to a mix of Trainee & Qualified PWPs.
  • Ensure that clients to be stepped up are appropriate.
  • Offer training to Primary Care staff in CBT based interventions
  • Attend locally organised and national training appropriate to the work role.

Professional

  • Take personal (unprompted) responsibility for achieving agreed clinical activity relating to the number of therapy contact hours per week.
  • To develop an area of interest, to the level whereby the post-holder could become a resource of information for the whole service.
  • Maintain appropriate clinical records in keeping with service operational policy
  • Participate in setting and review of objectives for the post on an annual basis
  • Participate in activities of continuing professional development (CPD) on an annual basis.
  • Attend professional meetings as appropriate.
  • Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times.
  • Develop interactive psycho-education within a CBT framework to groups of Service Users under the supervision of senior members of the team.
  • Exercise personal responsibility for the systematic clinical governance of your own professional practice.
