Bid and Tender Writer

37.5 hours per week

£30,174 per annum

Based: (National Remit base dependent on successful applicant)

Main duties of the job

As a member of the Development Directorate with a focus on bid & tender writing, service development and growth. You will be able to develop key relationships externally with buying organisations and funders, and internally with operations colleagues to develop innovative solutions to market need. You will have a passion for business development, and the ability to identify creative innovative business solutions drawing on your experience gained ideally from within the mental health sector.

The Development Directorate is a fast-paced working environment that adheres to strict deadlines and the right person will have proven and demonstrable bid writing experience and ability. You will have recent experience of networking and engagement and excellent communication skills, specifically in writing complex bids, tender and proposals all supported by a degree level qualification.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

v Understanding and interpreting customer needs from meetings, wider research, ITT content and interpreting this into an effective, winning bid

v Participation in key meetings to ensure bid solutions and content exceed customer needs, and show innovation and best practice

v Writing high quality, customer focused bids from start to finish, including format, look, and other bid content

v Working with MHM subject matter experts to obtain latest best practice and turn this into clear and persuasive content

v Editing and proof reading bids

v Participation in production of presentations related to bids

v Ownership of lessons learned and development of best practice content for bid library and development

v Take a proactive role in pre-bid/tender meetings with the Bid Team and other key personnel

The Ideal Person

The Bid Team is part of the Development Directorate and is a fast-paced working environment that adheres to strict deadlines and the right person will: -

v Have proven and demonstrable bid writing experience and ability

v Have a degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline (English, Journalism)

v Have experience in working in or bidding to the NHS, 3rd sector, Local Authorities and grants

v Have strong verbal and written communication skills

v Flexible and adaptable to meeting bidding deadlines

v Ability to develop relationships and communicate at all levels within the business

v Demonstrate an open mind, listening to people with different opinions

v Take a proactive role in sales and pre-tender meetings with the Bid Team and other key personnel from across the business

v Excellent time management and organisational skills

v Strong team ethos, self-starting and enthusiastic

v Clear, concise and creative writing style

v Experienced with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

v Ability to multi-task, whilst maintaining an eye for detail

v Previous experience as a Bid Writer in either the Public or Private Sector (3rd sector experience preferred but not essential)

Governance

v Ensure all MHM governance arrangements are adhered to

v Manage an effective mobilisation and implementation of all new services in preparation for operational handover

v Complete all project plans and assurance documentation

v Ensure due diligence is in place and work with Corporate Services to ensure all policies and procedures are up to date and adhered to

General

v Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies in relation to policy direction and practice

v Take responsibility for own health and safety and the health of safety of colleagues, customers and the general public

v Ensure that your line manager is fully informed of any issues, which may affect the quality of service provision

v To attend all relevant meetings both internally and externally

v To attend all supervision sessions or notified meetings where relevant

v To attend all mandatory training sessions
