NHS Talking Therapies services across England are recruiting clinical psychologists with BABCP Accreditation who are newly / recently qualified, or entering/returning to NHS practice.

It is an exciting time to join the service, which has received new government investment to expand the workforce and enhance patient outcomes through innovation.

We have a really exciting opportunity for 2 new colleagues to join our amazing Talking Therapies team and make a difference to the lives of people in our community living with mental health needs.

The CBT High Intensity therapist role is highly valued and seen as an integral part of what we do

The role involves providing disorder specific assessments, formulation and the delivery of evidence based high intensity cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This role will entail providing interventions to people with anxiety disorders and/or depression for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

You will work within the locality delivering step 3 Talking Therapies/NICE compliant psychological therapies face-to-face, digitally (online and via telephone) and in a range of community settings. Adapting what we offer to make our treatments more accessible is a critical characteristic of what we do

You will receive regular clinical supervision and peer group support

Main duties of the job

About you

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals who have relevant clinical experience and qualifications.

You must be able to demonstrate the ability to work within a high volume, performance-managed service, and manage your own caseload and time.

You should be BABCP accredited and have completed a recognised HIT training course.

Hold a Post Graduate Diploma in High Intensity Interventions or other Post Graduate CBT training qualification

Hold BABCP accreditation or be working towards full accreditation.

Job responsibilities

Job Purpose: The post holders will provide high intensity interventions - initially Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). They will work with clients who have a range of complex Anxiety and Depression related problems for which CBT is demonstrated to be clinically effective.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Accept referrals via agreed protocols within the service

Assess clients for suitability for Low Intensity Interventions and CBT

Make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering to the departments /relevant partners referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or back to the referral agent as necessary.

Formulate, implement and evaluate therapy programmes for clients.

Educate and involve family members and others in treatment as necessary, conveying CBT formulations with sensitivity in easily understood language.

Adhere to an agreed activity contract relating to the number of client contacts offered, and clinical sessions carried out per week in order to minimise waiting times and ensure treatment delivery remains accessible and convenient.

Attend multi-disciplinary meetings relating to referrals or clients in treatment, where appropriate.

Complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Keep coherent records of all clinical activity in line with service protocols

Work closely with other members of the team ensuring appropriate step-up and step-down arrangements are in place to maintain a stepped care approach.

Assess and integrate issues surrounding work and employment into the overall therapy process

Carry out clinical audits of service performance, including service user surveys and evaluations, and help to collate and disseminate the results for feedback.

Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the NHS Talking Therapies approved supervision training.

After completion of supervision training, supervise staff in the service.

Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating, professional and accrediting bodies (eg BPS, UKCP, BABCP), and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).

Ensure that client confidentiality is protected at all times. Be aware of, and keep up to date with advances in the spheres of CBT and other agreed psychological therapies.

Ensure clear professional objectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with senior therapists on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.

Attend clinical/managerial supervision on a regular basis as agreed with Manager.

Participate in individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.

Keep up to date all records in relation to C.P.D. and ensure personal development plan maintains up to date specialist knowledge of latest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

Attend relevant conferences / workshops in line with identified professional objectives
