PCN - part time phlebotomist

Job summary

IMP PCN are looking for a part time trained and experienced phlebotomist to join our ageing well team. The role will involve visiting patients in their own homes and care homes carrying out blood tests on the request from GP practices and the PCN team.

The role will involve 15 hours per week over 2 days, 7.5 hours per day.

Main duties of the job

Working within the Ageing well team, carrying out a mixture of routine blood tests.

Experience of SystmOne and primary care would be an advantage but not essential.

Training and experience in phlebotomy is essential.

Access to own vehicle and a full clean driving licence essential.

Job description

Job responsibilities

The post holder will assist the team in the provision of prescribed patient care, ensuring that samples are carefully and accurately labelled and prepared for collection.

The post holder will need to be IT proficient as you must be able to manage your own clinic and record information in the patients notes after every sample taken.

Venepuncture

Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/nurses

Requesting pathology tests

Ability to record accurate clinical notes

Ability to work within own scope of practice and understand when to refer to nurses or GP

Excellent communication skills

INR* if trained

Testing and processing urine specimens

Updating QOF registers
