Job summary
Here at Seashell we provide care and education for children and young people (up to 25 years old) with severe, profound and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, sensory impairment and communication disorders and autism. Requirements: Recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification. Registered member of Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). Registration with the HCPC Experience as a Speech and Language Therapist working with children and/or adults with profound communication impairments, including people who are non-verbal. Good understanding of the communication needs of people with complex disabilities, including deafness, multi- sensory impairment and autism spectrum conditions. Understanding of augmentative and alternative communication systems. Be able to lead on the assessment of different diagnosis interventions and the management of children or young people with communication and swallowing disorders preferred but not essential. Experience of leading staff training activities and providing staff supervisions preferred but not essential. We will consider band 5 level applicants for this role.
Main duties of the job
We are recruiting a Speech and Language Therapist to work as part of our CQC registered multi-disciplinary Health team. The role will involve working with children and young people within our school, college and residential settings and the post holder will also have the opportunity to deliver on a range of Outreach contracts. The role will provide in-depth assessment and intervention plans for young people with a variety of complex needs, including physical and learning difficulties, multi-sensory impairment, communication difficulties, autism and behaviours of concern. This role may involve some off-site working. This role is practising level for Therapists with experience who are looking for a new challenge.
