Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly and motivated housekeepers to work in our hospitals. We are interested in hearing from individuals who are willing to work hard within a strong, friendly team. They will be required to provide a KEY service within the hospital for both staff and patients. The post holders will be responsible for ensuring that the environment are of a high standards and meet the needs of patients and visitors. The main focus of the post holder is to facilitate the maintenance of a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients. They will work with the ward-based team to ensure patient safety privacy and dignity and courtesy in accordance with Trust values.

This is a challenging but rewarding job and would be ideally suited to motivated team players. Housekeeping experience within healthcare and Knowledge of COSHH, BICs, Colour coding and infection control is desirable though this is not essential, as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

The housekeeping team are part of the hotel services department. The team is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness in all the hospital areas. The housekeepers are valued support members helping to ensure that the wards are pleasant for the all patients and staff.

Job responsibilities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES

To carry out daily cleaning routines or scheduled

To carry out cleaning tasks as per rota

To handle and remove waste in line with segregation processes and procedures

To unpack and stack all linen and laundry

To follow hygiene regulations

To provide cover for colleagues during absences

To ensure cleaning trolleys are fully stocked with sufficient cleaning materials and equipment

Report any damages or hazards that are present in the theatre department to the theatre manager

Adhere to all policies and procedures relevant to your role

Ensure that all mandatory training and task specific training is attended as required for the role

Report personal accidents or injuries

Utilise protective equipment provided in line with infection control policy

Help create a good working atmosphere through team spirit and good communication with all work colleagues.

To ensure compliance to all local/corporate policies and procedures, noting the absolute requirement to adhere to infection control policy and procedure and to ensure that all other hospital personnel fulfil their contractual obligation, by escalating failures to do so to a line manager.
