Job summary

The bookings administrator is to ensure a smooth and efficient administration function for the hospital with effective communication between consultants, patients and multiple departments both internally and externally.

The key element is to offer freindly and efficient service to all hospital users, and to respond in a professional manner and work within the agreed parameters relating information security, data protection and patient confidentiality.

Main duties of the job

Process bookings for all inpatient and day case admissions on Patient admin systems, NHS database and theatre diary ensuring all breach dates are clearly indicated and accurate

to communicate and liaise with consultants and other hospitals departments regarding patients bookings for clinics, theatre and admissions.

Prepare appropriate admission documentation for all patients

To deal with incoming queries in a pleasant and professional manner and to escalate any clinical queries to the appropriate department

ensure all patient information is upto date

Identify low priority procedures and apply for funding to CCG where necessary and following up the outcome

Sending out PROM's questionairres

Liaise closely with patients / insurance companies

Relay information to patients relating to cost of procedure

Job description

Job responsibilities

Process bookings for all inpatient and day case admissions on Patient Administration system, NHS

database and theatre diary ensuring all breach dates are clearly indicated and accurate.

To communicate and liaise with consultants and other hospital departments regarding patients

bookings for clinics, theatre and admissions.

Prepare appropriate admission documentation for all patients.

To deal with incoming queries in a pleasant and professional manner and to escalate any clinical

queries to the appropriate department.

To ensure all patient information is up to date

Identify low priority procedures and apply for funding to CCG where necessary and following up the

outcome.

Sending out PROMs questionnaires when required

Liaise closely with patients/insurance companies prior to admission.

To relay information to patients relating to cost of procedures

OTHER DUTIES

Work closely with the Theatre team, Consultants and Scheduling Administrator to ensure that the daily

theatre schedule is utilised to it maximum potential considering standard RTT pathways and any

contractual restrictions imposed by Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Schedule theatre slots efficiently and cost effectively as per the guidelines, in liaison with the

Scheduling Administrator and Theatre Manager.

Booking Physio, outpatient and Pre-op appointments as and when required

To assist with the radiology administration.

Prepare admission documentation.

Liaise with Insurance Companies regarding authorisations.

To collate information after outpatient clinics and ensuring all documentation is correctly prepared for the medical secretaries. To attend staff update sessions and complete required ELearning. To be flexible regarding hours worked and accepting hours may alter periodically to reflect the changing needs of the business. to be aware and observe all the hospital policies and procedures with particular attention to those that concern the hospital, consultants and patient confidentiality and to be aware of the General Data Protection Regulations 2018
