Job summary

To set trays for patients using the set standards

To assist patients complete menus and inform of any daily specials

To advise the Catering Department as to if a patient has any special requirements with his/her dietary needs

To serve patients with food and drink requirements

To wash all used crockery and cutlery following drink / snack service and from all waiting areas

To maintain a high standard of hygiene within the ward kitchen. Completing all necessary paperwork

To assist in providing a safe environment for the safety and welfare of patients and staff by being aware of:

v Health and safety at work Act

v Fire prevention and Management

v Infection Control

v COSHH

v HACCP

Bring to the attention of Senior Managers at St Hughs Hospital any concerns regarding the performance of other colleagues that is questionable, or where practise is poor, in accordance with the Public Disclosure Act 1988

Main duties of the job

To ensure all patient information remains confidential

To take reasonable care to prevent injury to themselves or others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.

To co-operate fully in discharging HMT policies and procedures with regard to health and safety matters.

To immediately report to their manager any shortcomings in health and safety procedures and practice.

To report any accidents or dangerous incidents to their immediate manager and safety representative as early as possible and submit a completed accident / incident form.

To use protective clothing and equipment where provided.

Whilst the aim of the hospital is to promote a co-operative and constructive view of health and safety concerns in the organisation, all staff must be aware that a wilful or irresponsible disregard for safety matters may give rise to disciplinary proceedings.
