Job summary

Devon Doctors Group are expanding our team of Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACP) and it's an exciting time to be joining us as we continue to grow. If you are an ACP who is committed to Putting Patients First, and are looking for an opportunity to enhance your skills and experience alongside delivering high quality healthcare services, then we have a fantastic opportunity for you to join us at The Clock Tower Surgery in Exeter.

The Clock Tower Surgery is a small yet innovative surgery, designed for those experiencing homelessness in Exeter. We work closely with other agencies within Exeter CoLab (eg housing, drug/alcohol, mental health), providing high quality services to a vulnerable population, as evidenced by our Outstanding CQC rating.

You will have the opportunity to cover a variety of roles within the practice including face-to-face practice and telephone consultations, and clinical administration including checking of incoming mail and processing test results; initial support and training will be offered.

Being an ACP with us is a demanding yet highly rewarding career, where you will be able to consistently make a difference to patients.

We are looking for an ACP to work initially two to three sessions per week over Monday or Tuesday afternoons and on Fridays (either AM or PM) with one other regular session to be agreed, though it is likely that additional sessions will also become available on a regular or ad-hoc basis. Short days can be accommodated, eg 10-2.

Main duties of the job

You must be an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) with at least 6 months' experience of working as an ACP within a primary care environment.

You should have a recognised Masters level advanced level practice award. You will also be a registered independent prescriber with a minimum of 6 months' prescribing experience.

You should have the ability and confidence to see a wide range of patients presenting through the practice and be able to assess, diagnose, treat, prescribe and refer as necessary independently. There may be occasions where the GP is not on site, so it is important that you are comfortable working in this way.

The role will include occasional supervision of nursing or medical students, and is expected to develop into supervision of a trainee ACP.

Prior experience in managing patients with substance misuse is desirable but not essential, however you would need to be willing to develop these skills; supervision, training and clear protocols in this area can be provided.
