Job summary

Our vision is to ensure that children affected by conditions so serious that they are not expected to reach early adulthood enjoy with their families the best quality of life – with access to specialist care and bereavement support when they need it.

You will help coordinate the care of children and delivering continuity of care through ensuring clear communication and through exercising your responsibility for both service users and nursing staff.

An effective leader with outstanding communication and people skills, you will be adaptable in your approach to work, possess excellent decision-making skills and can multitask effectively and plan over the immediate term.

You will be flexible in your approach to work and participate in our end of life on-call rota.

Main duties of the job

A highly experienced registered children’s nurse, you will utilise your extensive knowledge and expertise in the care and management of a defined caseload of children with palliative care needs. You will deliver safe, personal, effective, and compassionate care to children, young people and their families, ensuring empathy and quality is everyone’s prime objective.

About us

Based in the Shropshire Community Children’s Nursing Team and linking with Hope House Children’s Hospices you will take a strategic view, developing, leading and coordinating a seamless and integrated children’s palliative care service across the Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Integrated Care System (ICS). This includes leading and participating in a collaborative arrangement between the Community Trust, Hospice and other partners to deliver an out of hours on-call rota to support children and young people that are nearing the end of their life.

Hope House Children’s Hospice and Shropshire Community Children’s Nursing Team has an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced children’s Clinical Nurse Specialist to work across Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin (ICS), developing, leading and coordinating a seamless and integrated children’s palliative care service.

If you are an effective leader with outstanding communication and people skills; have the ability to utilise your extensive knowledge and expertise in the care and management of a caseload of children with palliative care needs and possess excellent decision making and organisation skills then we would like to talk more to you about this role.
