Job summary

The post holder will provide one to one, therapeutic counselling in person at the hospices and designated counselling hubs and online and via the telephone. You will manage a caseload of clients, bereaved and pre bereaved and provide person centred therapeutic counselling.

You will also coordinate, facilitate and support, group therapy sessions which may take place in the evenings and weekends.

As an experienced counsellor, you will be a positive role model for your team, offer advice and support, join regular peer supervision and pro-actively help develop your team’s skills, knowledge and confidence.

Main duties of the job

Will be flexible and adaptable in your approach to work, possess excellent decision-making skills and can multitask effectively and plan over the immediate term

Holds a recognised level 4 or higher Diploma in counselling satisfying BACP Stage 3 Core Practitioner training.

Has been in practice for at least three years post qualification.

Eligible to apply for BACP Accreditation

Has some experience of working with bereavement and loss

Has experience in counselling couples, children and young people or is willing to undertake suitable training

Is highly organised and can rapidly prioritise

Is proficient in the use of IT packages

A Welsh speaker would be welcome, but is not essential.

Hope House Children’s Hospices have an opportunity for a Counsellor to join our team based in Conwy. You will join us on a part-time, permanent basis, working 15 hours per week. In return, our Counsellor will receive a competitive salary of £27,179 - £37,466 per annum, pro rata.

About the Counsellor role:

Counsellors who meet the qualification and experience requirements set out below, but have not completed training to work with couples or children & young people are welcome to apply, as this is an opportunity to join the counselling team in a developmental role where appropriate additional training will be provided.

The Counsellor will provide one to one and, where qualified, counselling for couples, children & young people in person at the hospice and designated counselling hubs, online and via the telephone. The Counsellor will be passionate in their therapeutic role, and will manage a caseload of clients, both bereaved and pre bereaved. The counsellor will broadly work with person-centered theory.

  • <p><strong>Essential Qualification:</strong></p> <p>Minimum Level 4 Diploma completed over one year full time or two years part time classroom based tuition with a broadly Person Centred theoretical base. To have included a supervised placement of at least 100 hours. To have achieved BACP Certificate of Proficiency</p> <p><strong>Essential Experience</strong></p> <p>Minimum of 3 years post qualification with sufficient completed hours to enable application for BACP Accreditation</p> <p><strong>Development Post Requirements:</strong></p> <p>If not a current holder of a certificate in working with couples and children and young people – you would be required to complete this qualification within the first 12 months of employment.</p>
