Job summary
The Retreat is a world-renowned mental health clinic based in York and Manchester working with clients across the UK. We have a long and distinguished reputation for being innovators and world leaders in the field of modern mental health care providing high quality, sustainable services for both adults and children, including neurodevelopmental conditions, stress, depression, anxiety, eating disorders and obsessive compulsive disorders.
In addition to privately funded therapies, we offer some services free at the point of delivery through contracts with NHS partners and through charitable funding.
Our organisation is growing, and we are currently seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to to work 22.5 hours per week to support our ADHD pathway. We are looking for individuals who can demonstrate post-graduate qualifications in Psychiatry and accreditation with RC PSYCH professional body or equivalent, with consultant status on the Specialist Register for Adult Psychiatry. You will have experience and appropriate training in working with clients presenting with ADHD and be able to demonstrate in depth knowledge of UK mental health legislation and mental health capacity legislation.

You will have the opportunity, time and space to deliver a tailored, high-quality service and have the support of other senior clinicians to offer truly holistic care. This post is being offered as home-based working if you live more than 50 miles from The Retreat and live in the UK. You will be required to work your induction in York, North Yorkshire and attend site on a quarterly basis.

The Retreat was founded by Quakers in York in 1792 and for over 200 years it has been a source of hope, comfort, support and care for people with mental health difficulties.
Founders William Tuke and his family took an innovative and compassionate approach which led to major legal reforms in the care of mental health in the UK and beyond. Every textbook on the history of mental illness mentions the unique part played by The Retreat in the reshaping of attitudes. This approach of innovation and humane care endures to this day and is something which we feel privileged to continue.
