Job summary

Dougie Mac are currently looking to recruit Registered Nurses to our developing Young Adult Service. Successful candidates will share our passion in providing excellent holistic and person-centred care to young adults and their families. At Dougie Mac our vision is to be admired as a centre of excellence for young adults living with either palliative or complex health conditions. Our focus is on holistic, needs led care that also promotes independence. This is delivered in our modern purpose built complex, through our offer of day opportunities, respite and social events.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as an integral part of the Young Adult Team: assessing, implementing and evaluating nursing care for service users living with palliative or complex health conditions.
  • Lead and coordinate shifts.
  • To complete a wide range of clinical interventions.
  • To act as a mentor / role model to Care Support Workers.
  • Supervise and support student nurses and nursing associates.
  • To act as Keyworker to a small caseload of young adults.
  • To support young adults in all aspects of living their lives, including support with activities of daily living, social and leisure opportunities.

  • Registered Adult Nurse (RN), Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD with post qualifying experience.

Desirable

  • Completion of PARE Supervisor Preparation and Guidance.

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience of working with service users who have additional communication needs, learning disabilities and / or physical health needs.
  • Transferable nursing knowledge and skills that can be adapted to caring for young adults living with life limiting conditions / complex health needs.
  • Experience of coordinating shifts / delegating tasks.

Desirable

  • Experience of multi-agency working with health colleagues, social care, and the voluntary sector.
  • Experience in caring for adults or children with complex health needs or palliative healthcare needs.
  • Experience of supervising / mentoring others.

  • Knowledge of legislation including Safeguarding Adults and the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Negotiation and problem solving.
