Main duties of the job
Working with the Head of Clinical Services you will provide professional leadership and line management to the In-patient unit nursing team. You will have 24-hour responsibility for the provision of specialist palliative nursing services to meet the individual needs of patients on the Inpatient Unit. You'll ensure timely, responsive, and high-quality service is maintained and well organised for patients, their families, and visitors to the hospice. You'll be accountable for the overall management of the nursing team, recruitment, deployment, and supervision of staff ensuring the co-ordination of all services provided to the patients.

2.To be accountable for defining and ensuring that agreed professional standards are reflected in practice within the nursing team.
3.To be accountable for the overall management of the nursing team, recruitment, deployment, and supervision of staff ensuring the co-ordination of all services provided to the patients.
4.Optimise the cost-effective use of all resources.
5.To identify the core and extended competencies required by clinical staff and develop a learning evidenced based programme to support staff to achieve them.

7.To work in collaboration with other service managers internally and externally to develop integrated services for patients and their carers.
Key Responsibilities
1.To provide clinical leadership and management support to the Inpatient Unit (IPU) team, ensuring that the highest standards of holistic nursing care are provided through supervision and operational management of the unit.
2.Develop and implement a model of nursing care which ensures each patient has an individual care plan which includes assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
3.Work with the multi-disciplinary team to provide a high standard of specialist palliative care to patients and their carers within the hospice.
4.To be part of the clinical on call rota.
5.To participate in multi-disciplinary meetings.
6.To attend clinical meetings relevant to role as required.
7.Act as a specialist resource for patients, carers, and non-specialist groups of staff.
8.Maintain accurate, up-to-date staff and patient records.
9.To maintain specialist expertise underpinned by theory and to maintain clinical contact so to act as a role model to nursing staff.

4.Investigate all accidents, untoward incidents and complaints and ensure that appropriate action is taken in accordance with agreed policies and procedures.
5.Take an active role in quality assurance initiatives, including the setting and auditing of standards and implementing resulting action plans.
6.Organise learning and development resources using agreed methods and frameworks.
7.Collect and collate data and keep knowledge and information systems up to date using set procedures.
