Job summary

We are seeking a Medical Administrator to join our team at Church Road Surgery. We operate out of two sites in the Sheldon and Tile Cross areas of Birmingham, where we provide primary care for over 11,000 patients.

Main duties of the job

In this role you will be required to support the practice with general administrative duties. This will include secretarial work, communicating to patients on behalf of the practice, facilitating an enhanced patient experience, and supporting the effective running of the GP surgery.

Job responsibilities

Coding, Recalling and Scanning letters as per the business needs

Computer data entry, data collation; processing and recording information in accordance with practice procedures

Processing and distributing incoming (and outgoing) mail

Taking messages and passing on information

Filing and retrieving paperwork

Facilitating patient referrals or communication with other agencies

Dealing with telephone enquiries

Taking ownership of specific administrative projects or worklists

Maintaining and monitoring the practice appointments system

Processing repeat prescriptions in accordance with practice guidelines

Ordering, re-ordering and monitoring of stationery and other supplies

Summarising patient notes

Facilitating patients with access to their medical records

Liaising with IT support department to log and support with IT issues.

Supporting Health & Safety procedures

Supporting Reception Duties if needed, eg processing requests for appointments

Monitoring worklists and proactively managing administrative work

Other administration tasks as directed by Practice Manager/Partners.
