Job summary

You will work with clients to assist them in sustaining paid employment. These will be individuals who are currently employed and have a physical or mental health disability, but still require some employment support.

You will work closely with relevant employment support services in order that those clients who choose to leave their jobs can be supported to find more suitable employment.

This involves working alongside Primary Care networks and other stakeholders and referring services in maintaining positive and integrated relationships, fostering a holistic approach to recovery through employment.

Main duties of the job

  • To work in partnership with individuals suffering from poor mental health and their employers, to maintain employment.
  • Assess individuals to identify when their job is at risk and develop suitable strategies to manage their return to work or alternative outcomes.
  • To adopt a strengths-based approach, prioritising wellness, recovery and wellbeing where individuals are empowered and supported to identify their own goals, with the overarching objective being employment retention.
  • Working with individuals, and their employers, to understand the perceived barriers and challenges, limitations and risks, that are threatening the retention of employment.
  • To identify and meet the needs of individuals and their employers in a prompt and appropriate way to prevent escalation and maximise the chances of retention.
  • Actively work with the client and their employer with a focus on matching the clients capacity with the employers business needs.
  • To monitor and provide ongoing support to clients once back to work.
  • Supporting clients with referral on to employment support services where the decision is to leave their current employment.
  • To build new, and enhance current, networks with Mental Health services, Primary Care services, Private and Public sector organisations, 3rd sector providers & other relevant stakeholders to secure referrals and identify client support.
  • Assisting the Team Lead and Senior Management to ensure all required documentation is completed and submitted to all key stakeholders.

About us

Employ-Ability, an Essex-based charity, is seeking to recruit suitable candidates to support those, with mild to moderate mental ill health including physical and sensory impairments, to find and keep employment. This is a new addition to our current services and are seeking driven individuals that can help embed and grow this new team. Employ-Ability is a highly successful supported employment service, as well as a recognised Centre of Excellence. The charity works with Essex Partnership University Foundation Trust to deliver an Essex wide Individual Placement and Support (IPS) service and from April 2019 with Norfolk and Suffolk Foundation Trust to deliver a West Suffolk, Ipswich and East Suffolk Service.

  • To adhere to administrative and data capture protocols which record the progress of individuals, and to keep accurate and complete records of casework.
