Job summary

We are looking for a Part-Time Finance Officer (around 15 hours a week) to support the continued growth of North West Leicestershire PCN. You will have a key role in delivering high quality finance support to the PCN. The role will assist the Federation Management Team and Clinical Directors in ensuring the successful delivery of monthly performance reporting, the development of our budgets, plans and forecasts. Initally this role is a fixed term role until the financial year end (31st March 2022) with a view to extend.

Main duties of the job

You will have day to day responsibility of managing our financial transactions and procedures. You will support the team to track our budgets and outgoings, and will be provide advice and support to a range of budget holders within the PCN.

You will already have proven basic financial skills including monthly and quarterly monitoring and reporting. You'll also be great at communicating effectively to our clinical and non-clinical budget holders.

Your diligent tracking will help to provide up to date information that supports decisions made within the PCN. Tracking to ensure all income is received and payments are made in line with contractual terms. You will, at all times, strive to ensure value for money within the NHS and for the population of our PCN.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for liaising with the company accountants to ensure the payroll is prepared in a timely manner.

They will also be responsible for ensuring pension scheme documentation is uploaded and manage starters and leavers to the scheme.

Update internal systems with financial data

Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports

Reconcile our bank statements

Participate in any financial or other audits

Track bank deposits and payments

Assist with budget preparation

Review and implement financial policies

Process invoices, managing records and receipts with a high attention to detail.

Effective and high-quality input at meetings.

Being a key point of contact for our partner organisations on financial and accounting matters and a positive ambassador for NWL Federation/PCN at all times.

Identify and apply for external initiatives and funding that support the financial sustainability of NWL Federation and support high quality patient care.

To be responsible for the self-development of skills and competencies through participation in training and development activities and to maintain up to date technical and professional knowledge relevant to the post.

  • Educated to GCSE grade A to C or equivalent in English and Maths

Experience

  • Relevant training/experience
  • Significant experience of assisting and supporting at a high level within an organisation.
  • First class organisational skills including the ability to prioritise work, balance conflicting priorities, monitor progress and exercise judgement about chasing progress as necessary.
  • Strong IT skills including a high level of proficiency in software programmes such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and SharePoint
  • Excellent written communication skills and command of the English language to draft letters, briefing notes etc. and high attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the confidence to deal with people at every level
  • Use of electronic filing systems.
  • High level of professionalism, discretion & diplomacy in dealing with confidential information, sensitive issues or high-profile contacts
  • Experience of using accounting software packages such as Sage, Quikbooks.
  • Experience on using online banking services
