Main duties of the job

We are looking for an ambitious Human Resources professional to join the HR team of this fast growing and ambitious Healthcare Federation in the Northfleet area in Kent. As the HR Officer, you will be responsible for managing the entire HR cycle as well as undertake other HR activities.

The post holder will play a significant role in making DGS Health a superb place to work whose goal will be to provide excellent assistance and support to all DGS Health employees and stakeholders.

We expect you to have knowledge of various HR activities. We want to see a committed and approachable individual and be impressed with your character and skills.

About us

DGS Health is a GP Federation based in Gravesend, North Kent. We are comprised of 100% of local GP practices across Dartford, Gravesham and Swanley. We pride ourselves on being clinically led and managerially enabled and like to ensure we recruit people who share our ethos and culture.

We are a small and friendly but growing organisation, employing over 90 people across a range of roles both within our own organisation and within Primary Care Networks.

Our services include urgent treatment services, paramedic home visiting, wound care, phlebotomy, care home support, frailty nursing, pharmacy services to name a few. We employ a diverse range of roles including GPs, nurses, administrators, physicians associates, pharmacists, managers, care co-ordinators, HCAs and paramedics.

The HR Officer is a key post in supporting the management and staff at DGS Health to be effective in their roles by providing the very best quality service to our staff. The HR Officer will recruit, support and develop talent develop policies and manage procedures.

In addition, the HR Officer will have responsibility and accountable for the full employee life cycle and will be involved in all areas of the Human Resources function. The postholder will be required to work closely with other human resources staff and the Finance Manager.

a) Provide high quality professional guidance and support to managers and staff for all HR related matters.

b) Undertake specialist and general HR tasks as required and appropriate to the role.

c) Deputise and act up for the Director of HR, as required.

  • CIPD Level 5 certification or above in HR.
  • Ideally degree level education coupled with excellent written, verbal, listening and presentation skills.

Personal skills and atributes

  • Self-motivated with a can do attitude and determination to get to the roots of problems.
  • Able to streamline and improve operational processes
  • Highly enthusiastic

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience of working in a fast-paced HR team, providing first level advice on HR policies and procedures, employment law and employee relations issues.
  • Excellent IT skills specifically MS Office; particularly Word, Excel and Outlook, also keen knowledge and experience of the importance of databases and their role in providing accurate management information.

  • Knowledge of employment contracts and context of working in primary care
