Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity to join our current Complementary Therapy Team within the Play and Therapies Service.

This is a permanent, part time role of 22.5 hours per week. Applicants will be required to work occasional weekend and evenings as and when required.

Main duties of the job

We are looking to recruit a permanent, qualified Complementary Therapist to support our current delivery of Massage, reflexology and aromatherapy. The role requires outreach visits, and travel across the South, East and West Wales areas. Treatments can be delivered at the hospice, in the community, and to all members of the family, offering much needed comfort, relaxation, and pain relief. We are looking for a caring therapist who can offer not only treatments, but comfort and support to life limited children and their families.

To provide a needs led, evidence based Complementary Therapy service to children and family members both within the hospice and community settings. To support the ongoing delivery and development of Complementary Therapy within paediatric palliative care, including assessment, treatment, education and advice.

This role will interface with service users, Play and Family Support team colleagues, volunteers and care services colleagues; and direct interface with service users.

Fulfil the requirements of an accountable Complementary Therapy practitioner; delivering safe, evidence-based therapies.

Undertake comprehensive, holistic assessments and evaluation of any therapy provided to a child or family member.

To deliver a range of therapies including direct massage.

To move and handle equipment using correct procedures and aids.

Provide evidence-based teaching to families and staff to promote safe delivery of appropriate therapies to the child.

Ensure efficient control, supply, and storage of Complementary Therapy resources, adhering to Health and Safety regulations, including COSSH, where applicable.

To provide expert knowledge regarding the benefits of Complementary Therapy in a palliative care setting.

Work autonomously as a lone worker, taking responsibility for the assessment of risk in all working environments.

Ability to adapt to working in a variety of environments including the family home and community settings.

To communicate effectively and in a timely and most appropriate manner with colleagues, children and families and maintain accurate, clear and contemporaneous records and documentation in line with Tŷ Hafans record keeping policy.

Any other duties appropriate with the band and level of responsibility of this role for which the job holder has the necessary experience and/or training to complete.
