Main duties of the job

Having recently launched our new strategy and organisational operating model, this is an exciting time to be joining UCLPartners. The Implementation Manager will be a dynamic manager and leader, driven by improving health and social care to solve the biggest health challenges in our communities. It is likely that the successful applicant will have a specific focus on our adolescent mental health portfolio, though this will be confirmed at the point of interview. Working as part of a wider directorate and team, they will lead specific implementation projects, managing project teams and associated stakeholders.

This role is suited to experienced project/programme managers, ideally with an interest or experience in managing innovation and transformation projects in the NHS or related health and social care services.

Job responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the successful design and delivery of projects in relevant strategic priority areas, including through:
    • Building strong, effective and well managed teams
    • Active management of project budgets, project plans, risk registry and resources
    • Ensuring project work is of a high quality and includes views of our community (patients, public, health and care staff, peers, clinicians etc)
    • Internal collaboration across our innovation pipeline
    • Building and maintaining networks to support the adoption of innovation across our health and care system
  • Plan and organise a number of complex activities or programmes which required the formulation and adjustment of plans
  • Manage and support external stakeholder engagement with NHS partners, wider public sector organisations, academics, industry partners and patients involved in our work
  • Analyse data, desktop and stakeholder research and pull together into clear narratives and insights - this will involve conducting basic analysis
  • Prepare reports, briefings and presentations as required which may include presenting complex ideas and proposals, at meetings, events and conferences
  • Create good working relationships with teams in organisations that participate in our partnership projects and programmes. Building expertise, trust and commitment to the goals of UCLPartners projects and programmes
  • Actively work with colleagues Enterprise function to undertake horizon scanning for examples of innovation within the project areas that can be spread and adopted
  • Engage with and interpret relevant national policy and make connections to our work and share with the wider team
  • Proactively manage risks relating to the delivery of programmes (including risks to the programme delivering within budget) and escalate to the appropriate people/structure
  • Make judgements involving a range of facts or situations, which require analysis or comparison of a range of options which may impact programme delivery
