Job summary
UCLPartners are looking for a capable and experienced
pharmacist or pharmacy technician to support Phase 2 of their outpatient
medicines provision transformation project, where you will be working with key
stake holders to understand medicines pathways across pharmacy &
health-care sectors.
Although the pandemic has been
challenging, it has also been a catalyst for change, particularly in the
transformation of outpatients management. Our ambition is to collaborate with partners
from the system to design integrated ways of working to overcome these
challenges. One of the aims of this strategy is to identify innovations in the
medicines pathway, from hospital doctors prescribing recommendations to
dispensing from community pharmacies and administration to patients.
The post holder will work closely with the Solutions and
Enterprise Teams at UCLPartners to improve the quality and safety of medicines
usage and pathways in this sector.
This is a part time role, 1-2 days/week as a 7-month secondment or fixed term contract (with potential of an extension).

Main duties of the job
Phase 2 will focus on the creation of a proof of concept to test the feasibility of transformation in outpatient medicines provision. Key responsibilities will include:
- Building relationships with key stakeholders, networks and
- Patient and pathway mapping: working with data capture leads at individual sites to map existing pathways and patient characteristics.
- Gathering intelligence - collate and analyse intelligence to inform plans for potential interventions.
- Identifying contractual & financial barriers to change at each site, including reimbursement mechanisms in place.
- Patient and public involvement and engagement to understand population and needs.

- Contractual & financial barriers to change at each site, including reimbursement mechanisms in place.
- IT and prescribing systems in place and what would be needed to support a change in pathway delivery, i.e., dispensing through community pharmacy.
- Capability and capacity of community pharmacy to support an intervention.
