The London Simulation Network

UCLPartners host the London Simulation Network (LSN). Members includeall providers of simulation based education in any format across all organisations responsible for education of healthcare professionals across London.

The Network is member driven and owned with a shared vision to build on existing expertise, practice and experience of Simulation Practitioners in London. It is an enhanced community of practice which fosters connections, communication, channels of working and collaborative working to improve simulation delivery, innovations and research opportunities.

Job responsibilities

We are looking for a new member to join our dynamic team, to lead on Faculty Development across the LSN. This will involve working with the LSN members and NHS England to ensure equity of access and quality standards of Faculty Development programmes.

Key responsibilities:

Liaison and engagement with simulation practitioners

  • Support delivery of effective and relevant faculty development
  • Chair the Faculty Development working group, which meets on a quarterly basis
  • Through the Faculty Development working group, scope the current requirement and provision of faculty development training and lead the co-design and delivery of all faculty development workstreams.

Leading Faculty Development Workstreams

  • Advance faculty development and a digital competency passport will be the two key workstreams with ambitious, well defined aims
  • Oversee and co-ordinate the development of advanced Faculty Development modules commissioned by HEE and matched to the LSNFaculty Development Framework
  • Build and manage the database of those who have completed HEE London commissioned faculty development courses and use this information to enable a more flexible use of faculty across London
  • Lead the design and implementation of a digital passport for faculty development.

Strategic support to Health Education England, regionally and nationally

  • Based on information from the working group and your expertise, engage with Health Education England at a regional and national level to advise them on all aspects of faculty development
  • Advise HEE in strategic commissioning of training to meet the needs of both novice and advanced faculty and enable the delivery of training at sufficient capacity, equity of access to opportunities and ensure the delivery of standardised learning outcomes.
  • Support and contribute to other workstreams and the general running of the network beyond the specific responsibility for faculty development workstreams including (though not limited to) hosting meetings, hosting educational activities and events, supporting network communication via email, phone, social media and our website, and cross covering other education work to ensure business continuity.

You will have experience of managing teams and promoting collaboration across teams. You are organised, self-directing, show initiative and can prioritise tasks.
  • Registered health care professional
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Experience developing and delivering simulation-based education programmes
  • Evidence of delivering simulation faculty development training
  • Knowledge of Faculty Development frameworks
  • Experience in Quality Assurance of educational activity/programmes
  • Management or involvement with a simulation/education facility
  • Demonstrates a vision for the future of simulation-based education within the NHS
  • Ability to discuss knowledgeably current and proposed developments in education and healthcare
  • Ability to interact well with all members of multi-professional team with diplomacy, persuasion and tact
