Job summary

We are looking for an educator to supporting our teams and programmes develop education and workforce programmes as well as developing a training and development programme for the organisation itself. You will work across our core teams to identify their learning and development needs and codesign training programmes to meet them. You will be supported in this work by the head of education and our HR team.

You will work with our innovation and research-into-practice teams to support training and education needs of the company, teams and programmes eg with our mental health team on education programmes for new clinical roles or with our patient safety team developing implementation guidance for new innovations. Applicants will demonstrate a passion for implementation of innovation in to practice for patient benefit and patient safety. This will be demonstrated through their experience and career to date.

The breadth of this role will require curiosity, a willingness to learn from others and the ability to quickly understand the challenges and opportunities around innovation and research-into-practice. Generalist knowledge of healthcare, healthcare research and healthcare improvement will be helpful. You will need a basic grounding in educational theories and methodologies to design education programmes and develop interesting, high quality, educational material. This will be creative work, grounded in educational theory.

You will need a clinical background and to have designed education programmes. Embracing new technologies within education and wanting to support others to develop high quality educational content will be a strong driver in this project.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Education Projects

  • Work with teams to identify the education needs within the company to improve patient care and population health
  • Design and facilitate a learning needs analysis for teams within UCLPartners focussed on improvement, research and education
  • Collaborate with patients, clinical academics and innovators to design, deliver and evaluate education programmes
  • Motivate and support a small team to deliver on time and with excellence
  • Keep stakeholders updated and utilise them as advocates for project work and outcomes

Strategic Thinking and Working

  • Advise and collaborate with head of programme the learning needs identified within teams
  • Work with the education programme lead to write programme updates present to heads of programmes and senior management as required
  • Present work with confidence and clarity at relevant meetings and groups of healthcare leaders
  • Work with the education team and other programme leads to develop a robust and inclusive methodology of patient and public involvement in UCLPartners education
  • Work with other programme teams within UCLPartners to improve the quality of education delivered by the organisation
  • Keep abreast of developments within healthcare education through attending relevant workforce and education meetings and reading publications

Management

  • No line management is currently established within this role but it would be expected that were the team to expand, the post holder would support by line managing project support officers
  • Provide and seek peer support from others within the organisation
  • Work with other members of the education team and HR to develop a culture of giving and receiving feedback within the education team and wider company
