Main duties of the job

We are seeking an exceptional Head of Public Fundraising to lead and inspire our fundraising teams and to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our organisation.

Were looking for a fundraising leader who has proven experience in managing diverse fundraising teams and income streams, brings a track record of delivering growth through creative and innovative approaches and is a collaborative team player, able to build strong relationships across the organisation and with our supporters.

Experience

Essential

  • Strong knowledge of UK fundraising legislation, regulation and best practice (Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, Gambling Commission, GDPR).
  • Significant leadership experience within a fundraising environment, with responsibility for income targets, budgets and team performance.
  • Demonstrable experience of motivating, developing and managing high-performing, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Experience of leading legacy marketing and/or legacy fundraising initiatives.
  • Financial acumen with experience in setting, managing and monitoring budgets and KPIs.
  • You can show us how you have started, developed, and delivered new fundraising initiatives and built on their success to deliver sustainable income
  • Knowledge of digital fundraising platforms and emerging trends in supporter engagement
  • You can negotiate and influence at senior levels, internally and externally
  • You have excellent planning skills and can work under pressure and to deadlines on a range of projects and activities
  • Proven ability to act as an ambassador, building strong external relationships with donors, supporters, volunteers and stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling ability, able to articulate the hospices mission with passion and authenticity.
  • Ability to work strategically while also managing operational detail.
  • Strong analytical and digital skills, with the ability to use insight and data to drive decision making.
  • Confidence to lead in matters of safety, safeguarding and compliance, ensuring policies and procedures are understood and followed.

Desirable

  • Experience working within the health, hospice or not-for-profit sectors.
  • Experience of working with volunteers at scale, including recruitment, motivation and retention.
  • Experience contributing to governance, assurance or audit processes.
