Main duties of the job
We are seeking an enthusiastic Retail Operation Assistant to work across our Charity Shops throughout Surrey and West Sussex.
Supported our Shop Managers, your key responsibilities will include carrying out day to day activities relating to all operational routines in our shops,including compliance with statutory regulations relating to health & safety, hygiene, trading standards, and security of the retail premises.
This hands on role requires a commitment to high standards of customer service and volunteer support.Youll have some previous experience of working in a customer service environment and have a flexible, enthusiastic approach. Previous retail experience is desirable, but full training will be provided.
You will need to have access to public transport or have your own vehicle to travel across our catchment area to cover for training, holidays, and short notice absence.
Working hours will be between 9.15am to 5.15pm worked Saturday (8 hours), Sunday (6.5 hours) and one other day per week (8 hours). Shop opening hours are from 9.30am 5.00pm.

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both in person and by telephone, effectively at all levels
- Proficient numeracy skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Experience of working in a customer care environment
Desirable
- Supervisory skills
- Retail experience
- EPOS expereince
- Creativity (e.g. window display)
- Some knowledge of St Catherine's Hospice work in the community, including its charity shops
- Awareness of statutory regulations including H&S legislation, trading standards, hygiene and retail premises
- Second hand retail sector e.g. antiques
- Current fashion trends

- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to motivate and empathise with hospice staff and volunteers
