Main duties of the job
We are seeking an enthusiastic Retail Operation Assistant to work across
our Charity Shops throughout Surrey and West Sussex.

This role will be based at our warehouse, situated in the Denvale
Business Park, Crawley. Our main hospice site is located at Grace Holland
Avenue, Pease Pottage, Crawley, West Sussex RH11 9SF.
You will be expected to travel across our catchment area, depending on
operational needs

carrying out day to day activities relating to all operational routines in our
shops, including compliance with
statutory regulations relating to health & safety, hygiene, trading
standards, and security of the retail premises.

Experience
Essential
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate both in person and by telephone, effectively at all levels
- Proficient numeracy skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Experience of working in a customer care environment
Desirable
- Supervisory skills
- Retail experience
- EPOS experience
- Creativity (e.g. window display)
- Some knowledge of St Catherine's Hospice work in the community, including its charity shops
- Awareness of statutory regulations including H&S legislation, trading standards, hygiene and retail premises
- Second hand retail sector e.g. antiques
- Current fashion trends
Attitudes and Behaviours

- Stamina and enthusiasm for hands on physical work
- Ability to work on own initiative
- Ability to motivate and empathise with hospice staff and volunteers
- Flexibility and willingness to work in other locations and extra hours as and when required ie staff shortages/sickness/ holiday cover
- Willingness and desire to work in accordance with hospice values

- Good level of literacy and numeracy
- Full driving licence or the ability to be able to access public transport to travel across our trading locations
