Consultant in Palliative Medicine
7-10 PAs per week (negotiable)
£82,096 - £110,682 (plus 2nd on-call supplement)

St Barnabas House provides specialist palliative care to
adults in areas of West Sussex.
Join a growing innovative research-active hospice
team, assisting in the provision of training for IMT
and STR doctors, with opportunities for ongoing
professional development.
Main duties of the job
The post will involve consultant input on inpatient and
community services, including our Hospice at Home
and Living Well services.
Applicants must be fully registered and licensed
with the GMC and on the specialist register for Palliative Medicine or date of
completion within 6 months of interview.
We honour NHS terms and conditions (including NHS
pension scheme). The second on-call rota is a 1 in 6.

Job description
Job responsibilities
To assist in the provision of
consultant medical support to St Barnabas House, covering the community team
and inpatient unit. There is also an on-call commitment; as part of a shared
consultant rota covering St Barnabas House and St Wilfrids Hospice Chichester
and the ECHO end of life hub, which provides advice to patients in the
community and acute trust.
To participate
in the direct line management of the non-training grade hospice doctors,
meeting with them regularly,
undertaking their annual reviews and their performance, setting their
objectives and job plans.
To participate
in clinical and other service audits and developments with the aim of ensuring
a high standard of patient care and to encourage and support other staff
undertaking audits.
To play a key role in the delivery
of teaching in palliative medicine to healthcare professionals served by the
Hospice, supporting the Education Department with this.
To ensure compliance with the
General Medical Councils published guide ` Good Medical Practice` including
the Duties of a Doctor.
