Would you like to join Londons leading nursing team? We are looking for a Senior Staff Nurse to join our Day Patient Unit. This is a 15 bedded surgical ward specialising in providing care to a variety of surgical specialties, including: spinal injections, minor orthopaedic, ophthalmic, ENT, vascular, minor urology, gynae, and plastics/cosmetic surgery.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicant will have been working in a similar environment and will be up to date in current practices. Experience will extend to working within a busy ward and professional, multi-disciplinary teams. Job responsibilities
What would be my responsibilitiesas the Senior Staff Nurse:
- To maintain confidentiality surrounding patient admission and treatment at all times.
- To ensure documentation is completed accurately and within agreed timescales using Hospital approved documentation, in line with NMC and Hospital guidelines.
- To have knowledge of and adhere to ward and Hospital policy and professional standards. To ensure that team members do likewise.
- To be a clinical expert within the speciality.
- To ensure the provision of excellent, evidence based nursing care for patients.
- Ensure that each patient is assessed, and that their care is planned, implemented and evaluated, and that this is accurately documented.
- Ensure the provision of a welcoming, caring and safe environment for patients and their families.
- To communicate complex and sensitive information effectively to patients, carers and other staff, overcoming any barriers to understanding and providing support during distressing or emotional events.
- Ensure that discharge planning is commenced at the point of admission, liaising with the multidisciplinary team, other departments, as necessary.
- To develop and maintain clinical skills and knowledge necessary to provide holistic, evidence based nursing care. This includes completion of training and development identified as part of appraisal and personal development (PDP) planning.
- To deputise for the Ward Manager and Deputy ward Manager in their absence
- To act as a role model, supervise and support the junior nursing team and health care assistants
- To undertake tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Ward Manager supporting the management and development of the nursing care and the delivery of the service
- To provide support to the Ward Manager, Deputy ward Manager and shift leaders
- To undertake a link nurse role(s) for designated clinical responsibilities, attend meetings and complete associated actions attached to the link nurse role
