We are looking for a Imaging Department Assistant to join our Imaging Department team.
Located in leafy St Johns Wood on the Jubilee line, minutes from Central London, our independent private Hospital has just been rated the number one in the country for care in the latest Bupa survey. Uniquely, all profits fund our onsite Hospice, St Johns.
Main duties of the job
The primary role is to support the clinical work of the Imaging Department by undertaking a variety of patient care related duties including, co-ordination of Ultrasound sessions and assisting the Radiologists in the smooth running of the sessions, assisting the Radiographers in the Fluoroscopy and Cross-Sectional (CT & MRI) departments and assisting both the Radiologists and Radiographers in all areas with minor procedures and cannulation.
In addition, the post holder will be expected to support the administrative work of the department by undertaking routine clerical tasks intrinsic to the efficient delivery of the service.
Because of the complex and evolving nature of the Imaging Department this post will involve a varied shift pattern working in partnership with other RDAs to ensure appropriate Clinical Support is given to a variety of specialised Imaging clinics.

What are the Responsibilities of the Radiography Department Assistant role?
- To prepare patients for a range of Imaging examinations and procedures changing patients, explaining procedures, etc.
- To assist with patient transfer between wards and the department.
Ultrasound
- Duties to include - ensuring rooms are prepared for examinations/procedures; patient preparation for scanning; equipment set-up and cleaning; stock control within ultrasound.
- Chaperoning a full range of ultrasound examination and procedures.
- Preparing sterile trolleys for interventional procedures.
- Assisting Consultant Radiologists with biopsies, FNAs, drainages and other interventional procedures under Ultrasound control.
- Organising and dispatching biopsies and other specimens to appropriate laboratories and collation of results in accordance with departmental protocol and compliance with full audit process.
- Providing aftercare and assistance to patients following distressing procedures.
Digital Fluoroscopy
- Setting up sterile trolley and equipment for fluoroscopic procedures.
- Assisting radiographers and Consultant Radiologists with patient preparation, positioning and examination in the Digital Fluoroscopy Suite.
General X-ray
- Escorting patients to X-ray rooms and assisting with patient positioning for general x-ray and mammographic examinations.
CT MRI
- Escorting patients to CT/MRI, checking procedure details against paperwork, monitor patients during complex procedures and provide aftercare for the appropriate patients.
