Job summary

We are looking for self-motivated and forward-thinking Paramedics to work across our Primary Care Network, providing dedicated support to our 18 general practice and our local population. Previous primary care experience is not essential, and we would welcome applications from those working in other settings.

This is an exciting role that will contribute to reshaping the way we provide care for our residents. You will be working as part of a well-supported, large, and expanding multi-disciplinary PCN team, across a diverse population. The role will operate across a neighbourhood of approximately four to five practices, providing specialist paramedic resources and supporting the delivery of PCN service objectives.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will

Work as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic, providing a holistic approach including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment to deliver high-quality patient services. With a minimum of 3 years experience.

Assess, diagnose, treat, refer, or signpost patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed conditions relating to minor illness or injury, supported by senior clinicians as needed.

Use advanced clinical skills to provide education to patients and service users, promoting self-care and empower them to make informed choices about their treatment.

Work with our Clinical Directors to continually improve the service and consider opportunities for innovation and developing the services we provide.

Contribute to collecting information on service delivery including sharing insights into how the PCN could better support and care for its population.

About us

Our South Southwark PCN is made up of all 18 GP Practices in Camberwell, Peckham and Dulwich, approximately 144,000 patients, supported by their GP Federation, Improving Health (IHL). We are a large PCN with 20 staff in post to date and expanding significantly over the coming year. We are committed to supporting and developing our staff, knowing this is crucial to our success. We have robust systems in place, including clinical supervision and peer support, and will continue to build on this as we expand our PCN team.

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics.
  • Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) registration
  • Able to operate at an advanced level of clinical practice
  • Framework for Higher Education Qualification (FHEQ) Level 7 or Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCOF) Level 11
  • At least three years post-registration

Desirable

  • Pre-reg MSc in a training programme approved by the College of Paramedics
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification
  • Full UK driving license

Experience

Essential

  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to work flexibly in core hours to meet needs of service.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
