Devon Training Hub are looking to appoint 6 GP Fellows (Plymouth-2, Devon-wide 2, Torbay-1, Exeter-1, 2- CVD), each for 1 session per week. Fixed term contract 12 months.
We welcome applications from GPs at any stage in their career with start dates from Autumn 2024.
For the Torbay and Plymouth specific posts, applicants should be GPs working in or planning to work in practices with an IMD score above 28* (please see attached list below)
For Devon-wide posts and Exeter posts, applicants can be from any practice in Devon, but applications should outline how they plan to address health inequalities in a specific area or patient group within their PCN.
For CVD posts applicants can come from any practice in Devon, with projects focussed on addressing Cardiovascular Disease and Health Inequalities.
The successful candidates will participate in an educational program including peer-learning groups and collaborating with subject matter experts to explore approaches to reducing health inequalities. There is an opportunity to participate in a National Health Inequalities Education Program joining other fellows around the country.
Pay based on standard NHS WTE fellowship scale, £8500 per session with additional £1000 educational/project allowance**
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of the role include:
- Upskill to meet patient needs in areas of high deprivation/serving diverse communities
- Undertake project work on reducing health inequalities at a PCN level to align with ICB priorities for health inequalities, examples might include: refugee/asylum seekers, trauma-informed care, digital inequalities, LTCs, substance misuse/deprescribing and Core 20 +5
- Collaborate with systems partners to deliver on One Devon priorities to reduce Health Inequalities

**Funding can be used to enrol on the National Trailblazer Education Program or to support training, education and research activities that directly relates to health inequalities and is agreed by one of the program leads.
Interviews for this role will take place on 9th & 11th October, and we envisage a November start.

Write up and present your project in line with agreed guidelines from the Devon Training Hub
Agree an educational professional development plan with the Devon Training Hub Clinical Leadership Team, identifying your own learning needs and areas you might like to upskill
Participate in and support the delivery of Health Inequality related events in Devon.
Disseminate learning about how to reduce health inequalities across the Primary care network and regionally where appropriate
