Main duties of the job
The
Clinical Educator will be an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner, with a
minimum of 3 years experience in an advanced practice role.
They will be an
experienced non medical prescriber and will be responsible for supporting the
training of clinicians who are undertaking the Advanced Clinical Practitioner
course.
Along with providing support and training for clinicians employed within Local Care
Direct with clinical education needs. Be involved in providing clinical
supervision for non GP clinical workforce.

Job Summary
- The Clinical Educator will be an experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioner, with a minimum of 3 years experience in an advanced practice role. They will be an experienced non medical prescriber. They will be responsible for supporting the training of clinicians who are undertaking the Advanced Clinical Practitioner course. Provide support and training for clinicians employed within Local Care Direct with clinical education needs. Be involved in providing clinical supervision for non GP clinical workforce. To act as an effective role model for best practice, demonstrating up to date clinical knowledge and practice
Key educational/clinical responsibilities
- Support, guide and monitor the development of clinicians undertaking the Advanced Clinical Practitioner Apprenticeship course.
- Support, guide and monitor the progress of clinicians employed by or rotating through Local Care Direct
- Liaise with Higher Education Institutions (HEI) to ensure that the learning objectives of individual practitioners are identified and that clinical supervision needs are met
- Assist with maintaining up to date competency frameworks, ensuring the frameworks are up to date with local and national guidance in line with local and national academic and governing institutions
- Demonstrate and teach evidenced based care ensuring that self and others are working within agreed guidelines and protocols, involved in the development of in-house training programmes
- Work closely with the members of the education faculty to deliver evidenced based teaching sessions
- Ensure that competence is regularly assessed and relevant documentation compiled on a regular basis, liaising with members of the educational faculty if required
- Ensure self and others are working within agreed guidelines and protocols
- Liaise and network closely with other colleagues within primary and secondary care and other agencies, referring patients as necessary
- Ensure self and clinical workforce is delivering evidence based care that is of a high standard, providing expert clinical advice when required

Clinical supervision
- Be actively involved in the clinical supervision of non GP clinical workforce across all aspects of organisational service delivery including the assessment and declaration of individual competency

Clinical governance and quality
- Responsibility for ensuring clinical governance standards are maintained in accordance with company policy and protocols
- Support clinical audit for LCD using clinical guardian and attend clinical audit group meetings
- Promote and maintain high standards relating to health, safety and welfare of self and others
