Main duties of the job
We have two full time vacancies for Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners becoming Advanced Clinical Practitioner upon successful completion of the MSc Advanced Clinical Practice programme at Leeds Beckett University.
The postholders will start in January 2021 and train for a period of 3 years as a Level 7 Apprentice. TACP #1 will have 30 hours per week in a clinical rota, TACP #2 will have 29.5 hours per week in a clinical rota. Each post will have GP supervision and 7.5 hours per week to attend university.
Following successful completion the TACPs will become ACPs and be offered hours of no less than 36 hours per week working in LCD clinical rotas across the LCD sites currently having ACP vacancies as at December 2023.

Part of the role will be the successful completion
of a fully funded MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice which is a three year
course at Huddersfield University. In
conjunction with the MSc employees will receive in-house training, guidance,
supervision and mentoring to learn the required new skills and develop
confidence as an Advanced Care Practitioner.
JOB SUMMARY
- The
post holder will provide care for the presenting patient from initial history
taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation of care. Local
Care Direct has a commitment to excellent patient care, quality improvement and
teaching. The post holder will act within professional boundaries and seek
advice or refer to colleagues when appropriate. It is expected that all of our
clinicians are actively committed to supporting these aims and participate in
relevant activities when appropriate.
JOB DESCRIPTION
- Duties
and responsibilities following Local Care Direct policies, protocols and
guidelines, and working within own competence and professional boundaries,
duties will include:
Clinical
- Provide
telephone and face-to-face consultations for patients (at the patients
residence when necessary), ensuring that practice is effective, relevant,
evidence-based and of a high standards
- Provide care within own competence and
seek advice or refer to colleagues when appropriate
- Work
within the parameters of current prescribing legislation or approved Patient
Group Directives
- Clinically
examine and assess patient needs holistically and plan clinical care
accordingly, integrating both drug and non-drug-based treatment methods into a
management plan

emergency care as necessary

information and advice on prescribed or over-the-counter medication, medication
regimens, side-effects and interactions.
