Job summary
Barnsley Healthcare Federation is looking for an
experienced summariser to join our team in a flexible role. The successful
applicant will be responsible for overseeing and monitoring that every patient has a complete, accurate and
well organised electronic medical record, ensuring in every case all
information has been extracted and accurately coded. Working with direction
from the Primary Care Manager and under your own initiative, you will follow
practice procedures to summarise patient notes.

Job responsibilities
The post holder is responsible for making and
maintaining patient clinical records across all Federation sites.
- Responsible for organising and monitoring the
summarising of patient medical records to meet Practice targets
- Responsible for ensuring every patient has a
complete, accurate and well organised electronic medical record
- Responsible for checking electronic records
received via GP to GP transfer are checked against the relevant paper
record to ensure all information has been extracted and accurately coded
- Responsible for following Practice procedures
to summarise patient notes (of new patients and existing patients as
directed by a clinician) in a timely manner, resulting in an accurate
electronic patient record
- Responsible for maintenance, filing and
security of paper patient notes
- Participate in or manage audits as required
- Responsible for the quality of clinical coding
carried out in the role, ensuring it meets Practice standards and
raising/reporting any issues in a timely manner
- Ensure
general upkeep of paper files, repairing when necessary
- To
deal with all enquiries tactfully and with due consideration of patient privacy
