Job summary
We are looking for newly qualified, enthusiastic, forward-thinking GPs to join the Primary Care Network within Barnsley practices to provide Primary Care at scale, to fulfil the healthcare needs of Barnsley. We are recruiting for newly qualified Salaried GPs to join the Primary Care Team. This role will be based within one of our Barnsley Practices.
Main duties of the job
Candidates must possess a positive attitude, be fully registered on the General Medical Council Register, as well as having the ability to work as part of a team.
All GPs are assigned to a specific surgery and will be part of the team there.

Barnsley has established one super Primary Care Network (PCN) of over 250,000 patients which includes all of GP practices across Barnsley. This is supported by six Neighbourhood Networks building on our successful and existing model of neighbourhood working; this enables us to maintain and focus on the specific needs of each local area whilst allowing integration at a borough wide level.

Job responsibilities
Clinical
responsibilities will include:
- The
post holder will undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations,
telephone consultations, queries, home visits, reviewing and signing repeat and
acute prescriptions, review tests results and patient correspondences, medical
reports, referral letters NHS/private in a timely manner
- Making
professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether
self-referred or referred from Federation team members
- To
record clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards
- Collecting
data for audit purposes
- Working
towards all QOF/LES and DES targets
- Compiling
and issuing computer generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand
written prescription wherever possible)
- Prescribe
in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever
this is clinically appropriate
- In
general, undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a
GP working within primary care.
Other
responsibilities with the Practice:- Awareness
of and compliance with all relevant practice policies/guidelines e.g.
prescribing, confidentiality, data protection, health and safety and QOF
standards
- A
commitment to life-long learning and audit to ensure evidence based best
practice.
- Maintain
an educational portfolio
- Contribute
to evaluation/audit and clinical standard setting within the practice
- Contribute
to the development of computer based patient records
- Attending
training, practice/federation meetings and events organised by the federation
or other agencies where appropriate
- Meet
all timescales/deadlines for audits and written returns to ensure that the
federation meets quality standards and receives the designated funding (e.g.
annual QOF audit, out of hours audits.
