Job summary

We are looking for an ambitious Pharmacist, ready to take their career to the next level, to be the Superintendent Pharmacist at an exciting new distance-selling pharmacy business in Grantham, initially focussing on MDS dispensing. Being involved from the very beginning of our journey, as the Superintendent, you will help shape our service offering and take personal responsibility for day-to-day operations. As the figurehead of our operation, you will be responsible for ensuring professional pharmacy standards and regulations are always met, with a clear focus on patient care. You will need to have good business acumen and demonstrate the necessary drive and determination to develop services and profitability, in a safe and cost-effective manner.

To enable the business to reach its full potential you will need to ensure the highest standards of service are delivered by the pharmacy team with a clear focus on patient care, by providing excellent leadership and continuing skill development.

As the nominated individual on the Pharmacy licence, youll have responsibilities in house to look after the Pharmacy side of things, such as SOPs, staffing and clinical responsibility whilst being supported by our ever-growing team of Federation staff, who are based in the same building. You will be responsible for developing and supporting all aspects of the pharmacy, to ensure high-quality, innovative and up-to-date services, which will consistently meet the needs of our patients.

The right individual will be commercially focussed with excellent clinical skills and someone who can effectively communicate with patients and other healthcare professionals.

JOB SUMMARY

To ensure that the operation of K2 Healthcare Limited pharmacy services meet with the GPhC Standards for Registered Pharmacies. To ensure that the services provided are in accordance with the service level agreement between K2 Healthcare Limited and the federation member practices.

To ensure that all elements of business relating to the sale and supply of medicines meet legal and best practice frameworks. To provide professional leadership and management for all staff employed by K2 Healthcare Limited for the delivery of pharmacy services.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Pharmacy Service Provision

Be the responsible pharmacist, and nominated individual on the pharmacy licence

Actively manage pharmacy service delivery, making optimal use of resources available and ensuring high quality, safe, patient-centred and progressive community pharmacy services, backed up by relevant standard operating procedures.

Provide professional leadership of the pharmacy service, ensuring all pharmacy practice, including their own, is within the boundaries described within the latest version of the Medicines, Ethics and Practice issued by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society and General Pharmaceutical Council

Undertake all roles and responsibilities of the Superintendent Pharmacist as required by all applicable legislation

Be accountable for ensuring that all legal and professional requirements are adhered to, particularly in relation to clinical governance, information governance and assurance.

Be responsible for ensuring that the provisions of the Health and Safety at Work Act are carried out within the Pharmacy setting, and ensure staff are appropriately trained/instructed in their responsibilities and provided with the necessary protective equipment to carry out their function.

Identify and manage risks to service users, public and staff, maintaining the risk register and improving/strengthening medicines safety within the pharmacy.

Actively seek feedback from service users and analyse key performance indicators to identify and implement opportunities for service improvements and innovation.

To lead the pharmacy team and ensure they are supported in developing and delivering specific objectives

Report regularly to K2 Healthcare Limited Board on the performance of pharmacy services, the operation of the SLA with federation member practices and other business matters

Manage the operational finances associated with the delivery of the service such as staffing in line with agreed budgets

Lead and support initiatives to increase efficiency and improve patient and practice experience.

Ensure errors, complaints and incidents are managed within the companys guidelines.

Business and Financial Planning

Interpret broad clinical/professional policies and NHS guidance to manage, develop and lead the vision for the Pharmacy and medicines management services within the context of the overall strategic direction for K2 Healthcare Limited

Play a key role in the development of the annual Business Plan for K2 Healthcare Limited and advise the Directors of opportunities associated with planned service developments for both federation member practices and other potential customers

To ensure appropriate stock management within the pharmacy. Support the finance team in working with the company auditors for the financial audit, including annual stock takes

Build internal and external networks and explore the local NHS and health market place for opportunities to expand the pharmacy business

Develop working relationships and negotiate with senior and executive officers within and outside of federation member practices and other organisations to identify opportunities to improve patient care

Work Force

Be responsible for any directly employed K2 Healthcare Limited staff working within the pharmacy, including overarching responsibility for management and supervision, absence management and appraisals. This includes responsibility for the appraisal system within K2 Healthcare Limited pharmacy.

Ensure staff have adequate clinical supervision/mentorship and individual performance is managed in line with agreed policies. Ensure polices and guidelines are in place and followed. Ensure all staff receive training appropriate to role and are compliant with mandatory training requirements. Ensure all professional staff remain registered with the GPhC at all times.

Recruit, develop and motivate staff to ensure they deliver maximum performance and are retained within the company. Ensure all recruitment complies with employment legislation.

Oversee and contribute to the delivery of a training and development programme for the company staff.
