Main duties of the job

This role is for a Senior High Intensity Counsellor to join our Kent NHS Talking Therapies service. We are looking for a qualified Counsellor who wants the opportunity to support and develop Trainee and Qualified High-Intensity Counsellors within an NHS Talking Therapies service.

You will also evidence post-qualification NHS Talking Therapies training in clinical supervision.     Qualifications

    Essential

    • Recognised professional counselling qualification to a minimum of Diploma level (NVQ 4)
    • Registration and accreditation with BACP, UKCP or COSCA
    • Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years worth of references and where applicable, will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

    Experience

    Essential

    • Demonstrable experience of working in mental health services
    • Demonstrable experience with routine outcome monitoring
    • Demonstrable experience of carrying out risk assessments within scope of practice
    • Understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care
    • Knowledge of medication used in anxiety and depression and other common mental health problems
    • Demonstrable understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post
    • Knowledge of child protection issues and other relevant legislation
    • Knowledge of anti-discriminatory practice and of working with the diverse range of groups and communities served.
    • Able to be self-reflective, whilst working with service users and in own personal and professional development and in supervision
    • Advance communication skills
    • Able to work within a team and foster good working relationships
