Job summary

As a member of our team you will be supporting people who access the service for help with their drug or alcohol use. This exciting role will also continue to allow us to improve the work we have already developed around supporting clients within the criminal justice system.

Main duties of the job

The role will include covering the courts, prisons and custody suites on a regular basis; working with people awarded a community sentence where mental health, drugs and/or alcohol have been identified; work closely and collaborate with partner agencies to manage these orders; work directly with individuals released from prison and support multi-agency plans around them.

Job description

Job responsibilities

This is a large integrated drug and alcohol service working with some of Cornwall's most excluded and disadvantaged people. Successful candidates will work as part of the Criminal Justice Liaison Team alongside in-house services which include prescribing and clinical, outreach, hospital and adult community and a residential rehabilitation facility. We are looking for people who have previously worked with individuals in relation to substance misuse or who have equivalent experience working in health, criminal justice or social care settings. You will have excellent communication and report writing skills, be able to collaboratively work as part of a team and to independently manage a caseload. You may have an awareness of working in a trauma informed way (while this is desirable, training will be provided). Most of all you will demonstrate the enthusiasm to motivate our service users to make the changes they want and need to change their lives for the better. Benefits

Qualifications

Essential

Have attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
Have a full UK driving license with access to a vehicle
Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years' worth of references and where applicable, will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check.

Experience

Essential

Have demonstrable experience of working in the health, social care or criminal justice setting and of working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies
Have a successful track record of working or volunteering with people who have experienced Substance Misuse issues
Have an understanding of the issues facing drug/alcohol misusers or clients experiencing common mental health problems (as appropriate)
Possess knowledge and understanding of harm minimisation in substance misuse treatment or psychological health interventions for common mental health problems in primary care (as appropriate)
