Job summary

This role supports parents in relation to their substance misuse and its impact upon themselves and their family. If you are looking for a role where you will make a real difference to the lives of children and families affected by substance misuse, we'd love to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

As a Family Worker, you will offer a range of bespoke interventions and parenting courses. You will provide ongoing support through 1:1 interventions and also interventions with both parents and children. It will be vital for you to develop strong and positive relationships with clients and their families, whilst managing an active, complex caseload and ensuring continuity of care, where children's safeguarding always comes first.

Successful candidates will work as part of the adult community team, alongside in-house services which include outreach, hospital, clinical, criminal justice and a residential rehabilitation facility. WithYou in Cornwall are looking for a compassionate and empathetic Specialist Substance Misuse Family Worker to work across mid Cornwall. The postholder will work creatively with a trauma-specific approach as part of an integrated network of dedicated professionals, supporting parents to make and sustain positive changes in relation to their substance misuse. It is essential that you can demonstrate experience of working in a health, social care, educational setting (including early years) or with families. You will need to be resilient and self-motivated as well as being comfortable with lone working. Experience with multi agency working including children's services, housing and mental health services is desirable. A knowledge of substance misuse would be advantageous but we are open to conversations with all applicants who have a passion for working with families. Above all, we are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm, energy and drive to make a real difference, to help our parents make real, lasting changes, using a positive whole family approach. The working hours for this role will be Monday - Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm. Access to a vehicle is essential as daily driving to locations is part of this role.     Qualifications

    Essential

    • Relevant OCN/NVQ/City and Guilds level 3 or equivalent or willing to achieve this within 12 months OR SVQ level 3 in Social Services & Healthcare or equivalent
    • A full UK driving licence and use of a car
    • Should you be successful in your application, you will be required to provide 3 years' worth of references and where applicable, will need to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
