Job summary

Our Stoke Community Drug and Alcohol service are looking for a a committed Harm Reduction Lead, who will provide support, information and advice to individuals in relation to reducing drug and alcohol related harm to join our team.

Main duties of the job

As a Harm Reduction Lead you will be providing support and advice to people who are experiencing difficulties due to substance misuse. You will work as part of our team and alongside other social care services to identify how we can help. You will develop plans with your clients to help them get their lives back to where they want them to be. You will have experience in the substance misuse field and have a passion for supporting individuals to reduce harm to themselves and work to recovery goals.

Job responsibilities

If you are passionate about promoting safer drug use practices, we'd love to hear from you.The role will be working within all aspects of the engaging clients into recovery, working closely with our partner agencies within the city and providing initial contact to our clients. Most of all you will demonstrate the enthusiasm to motivate our clients to make the changes they want and need to change their lives for the better. If you have a compassionate nature and a genuine desire to help others, you could be just what we're looking for. We are determined and always professional in our approach to each and every case and we never judge, we're just here to help. Please note that working hours for this role are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm. However, there will be some occasional Saturday working required on a rota basis. You will be a compassionate and motivated individual with a demonstrable track record of working with substance misuse clients, having the ability to connect quickly with the people we support, treating them respectfully and with dignity. This is a busy team, with multiple priorities ongoing, so it's important that you are highly organised and resilient and able to manage your time effectively. Above all, we are looking for someone who is passionate about what we do, with a positive and engaging approach to our clients. A full job description is available on request.     • Attained ONC/NVQ level 3 or be willing to achieve this within 12 months
    • You will also need to meet our safeguarding requirements of a satisfactory enhanced DBS check

    Experience

    • have experience of working in a health, social care or related setting such as criminal justice or housing
    • have some experience in group working, needle exchange and understanding the issues substance misusers face
    • have a successful track record of working with substance misuse clients
