Job summary

We are looking for an Independent Prescriber (Non-Medical Prescriber) to join our recovery-focused, multidisciplinary team in North Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a highly rewarding sector with some truly inspirational patients and colleagues.

Main duties of the job

You will deliver prescribing clinics for people with drug and alcohol dependency, coordinating the individual's care package with their Recovery Worker. You will also provide healthcare interventions, in particular BBV screening and vaccinations. You will join a vibrant network of prescribers and clinicians within We Are With You, contributing to the ongoing development of policy and practice in substance misuse treatment.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • be a Registered General Nurse, Registered Mental Nurse or a Registered Pharmacist (GPhC)
    • have successfully completed the supplementary/independent prescriber course and hold an appropriate entry on the NMC register or GPhC register

    Experience

    Essential

    • To be effective is this job you will:
    • be able to demonstrate OST prescribing experience
    • be able to evidence your continuous professional development
    • have a successful track record of delivering nursing interventions in a community setting
    • be able to demonstrate your experience of healthcare assessments, care planning and key working
    • be able to evidence peer working or working within a multi-disciplinary team, and collaborating with external agencies
    • have knowledge of the issues affecting substance misusers, including the impact on their wider health
    • be able to work effectively in a team environment, using collaborative and supportive approaches to your work
    • have strong organisational/time management skills, able to manage competing and conflicting demands
    • be able to accurately gather and maintain records and information

    Desirable

    • It would be great if you already have experience of prescribing for dependence. However, if you are recently qualified or new to this area of work we will provide training and support to achieve the required competencies.
