This job is now closed

Job summary

The Sunlight Project is aimed at young people aged between 7-13 who are affected by someone else's substance use. The project is run in small groups within schools or community settings. The project aims to move any sense of blame or guilt away from the young person and identify support networks. There is a strong emphasis on identifying and building on existing strengths, focusing on solutions rather than problems, and validating the good things that are happening in the child's lives already.

Main duties of the job

The role will require you to co facilitate small groups in schools and community settings with young people affected by someone else's substance use. The groups will be focussed around age appropriate discussions and therapeutic activities with the aim to promote self esteem and sense of self. You will use outcome tools to measure any progress and liaise with schools, parents and carers to achieve the best outcomes for these young people. We would welcome applicants who have experience of working with vulnerable young people of this age group, particularly if you have some baseline experience and knowledge of working with people who use substances.
