Main duties of the job
The
post holder is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe and effective
nursing care for the Practice population. Clinically, the focus of the role is
the delivery of evidence-based practice for Patients with acute and chronic conditions,
in addition to the management and preventative nursing interventions to the
Practice population.
You
will work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to meet the needs of
the Patients, and also in the delivery of a healthier community, by listening
and responding to Patient needs. You will
assist the Practice Manager in leading and managing nursing resources, whilst working
closely with GPs, the admin team and other multidisciplinary team members in order
to deliver the Practice priorities. As
an autonomous Practitioner, the Practice Nurse is responsible for the care
delivered by the Practice, by demonstrating critical thinking and clinical
decision-making skills in the management of Patient health care.

Qualifications
Essential
- Registered general Nurse.
- Current NMC Registration
- GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths
Desirable
- Community Nursing Specialist Qualification or Equivalent.
- Relevant Nursing Degree.
Experience
Essential
- Clinical Supervision and Training Experience.
- Experience of working within Primary Care.
- Experience of quality initiatives such as clinical benchmarking.
- Experience of management of patients with long term conditions.
- ECGs Venepuncture New Patient and other medicals
- Chaperoning support
- Requesting pathology tests and processing the results, advising patients accordingly Immunisations (routine, childhood and travel)
- Diabetes, Hypertension, Asthma, Spirometry, CHD women's health (cervical cytology and contraception etc.)
- Understand importance of evidence based practice.
- Broad knowledge of clinical governance Ability to record accurate clinical notes Knowledge of health promotion strategies

- Wound Care / Removal of sutures & staples Travel Medicines.
- Paediatric phlebotomy Insight into public health issues in the local area
