Job summary

Senior HR Advisor

One Care is going through an exciting period of change, developing and expanding our practice support strategy and as part of this, we are looking for a Senior HR Advisor to support general practice with complex employee relations, organisational change, policies and processes and recruitment and selection. This role will also work closely with the Head of People and Culture to develop, implement and engage with practices on this new service. In its initial stages, practices will pay for the employee relations advice service on an hourly or daily basis.

Although this role would work independently with general practice, it will sit within One Cares own People Services team, so there is plenty of opportunity for building team relationships and working closely with One Cares Head of People and Culture in developing this new service and engaging with practices on the offering.

The right candidate for this role will be someone who:

Initially, this role is on a 12-month fixed term contract, with the potential for extension to permanent.

Main duties of the job

This is an exciting new role where the post holder will have the autonomy and independence to shape the role as needed for practices. A key part of the role will be engaging with practices on the new HR offering, including workshops, webinars and conducting HR MOTs with practices to see what their current HR provision is and how best One Care can support them. Alongside this engagement piece, the postholder will support practices with complex HR issues, organisational change, and general HR queries.

One Care (BNSSG) CIC is a GP Federation that represents practices in Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire (BNSSG). We have 66 member general practice partnerships who care for more than one million patients. Our vision is to enable general practice to both survive and thrive.

This role will be based at One Care's office in South Bristol on Hawkfield Business Park. One Care has a hybrid working approach where our employees can work from home for up to three days per week, with the other two days in the office or visiting practices. There is free parking on site at Hawkfield Business Park.

  • Develop an engagement programme with practices on the new HR support offering to include workshops, webinars and HR MOTs.
  • Support practices with preparing for CQC inspections by offering HR advice and guidance specific to these requirements.
  • Develop, maintain and report on key metrics relating to the provision of HR services to practices
  • Report on HR themes and trends in practices and develop initiatives to further support with these.

Employee relations and organisational change

  • Support with complex HR issues such as investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and absence management.
  • Assist with organisational change such as restructures and TUPE and support transition efforts.
  • Offer bespoke and pragmatic advice in line with ACAS best practice.

Policies and processes

  • Support practices with the development, implementation and application of HR policies and processes.
  • Ensure practices are aware of changes and updates to employment law and support with any implementation.
  • Signpost as needed to resources already available.
  • Support with the development of policies and processes for recruitment and selection.
  • Assist on interview panels for senior practice roles.
  • Seek out innovative solutions for recruitment issues such as hard to fill roles.
