Job summary

We are currently seeking a Clinical Education Lead to join our team and contribute to our mission of providing exceptional care. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in enhancing the skills and knowledge of our workforce, ensuring our care remains at the forefront of best practices in palliative and end-of-life care.

Main duties of the job

As our Clinical Education Lead, you will spearhead educational initiatives and support the development of our multidisciplinary clinical teams. This role involves researching, developing, and delivering a range of educational projects and training programs tailored to meet the needs of our staff, including Nursing and Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and our non-registered work force.

Job responsibilities

EDUCATION AND PROFESSIONAL DEVLEOPMENT LEAD | Band 7 £43,742 - £50,056 Per Annum, pro rata

The duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Educational Project Development: Research, develop, and implement educational projects aligned with the goals of the Education Team.
  • Learning Opportunities: Collaborate with departmental clinical managers to create and enhance learning opportunities for staff and volunteers.
  • Program Design and Evaluation: Lead the design, provision, and evaluation of essential role and clinical skills programs to support the delivery needs across all clinical teams and services.
  • Training Events: Devise, deliver, and evaluate a range of education and training events, both internally and externally, using diverse teaching and learning approaches.
  • HEI Program Management: Oversee the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Higher Education Institution (HEI) contracted programs for End of Life and Palliative Care. Contributing also to the teaching and assessment of students.
  • Policy Development: Identify and support the creation of educational and learning strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure they are current and responsive to staff needs and patient care requirements.
  • Mentor Support: Implement sustainable support and supervision systems for mentors and supervisors, ensuring the supervision policy is effectively embedded into practice.

    HOURS OF WORK

    This role is a Part Time position. Working 22.5 hours a week.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Registered Nurse with an academic qualification in relevant subject to Masters level or above
    • PG Cert in education (or willingness to achieve)

    Experience

    Essential

    • Current clinical experience in Palliative, cancer care and/or End of Life
    • Excellent in-depth knowledge of end of life/palliative care practice
    • Experience of designing, implementing and evaluating teaching and learning activities.
    • Experience of teaching a range of health and social care practitioners, including both non-registered and registered staff.
    • Sound knowledge of teaching and learning approaches.
    • Ability to present to large groups of peoples e.g. Induction, internal/external programmes of learning.
    • Have an understanding of diverse learning needs and to be able to adapt to meet different learning styles.

    Desirable

    • Experience of using a range of audio visual equipment and digital learning platforms to support teaching activity.
    • Experience of supporting and mentoring learners/students through modules/programmes of study.
    • Able to facilitate both face:face and online learning.
