Job summary

We are seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist to join our growing team of healthcare professionals. You will be working with complex patients experiencing homelessness in Leeds. The role will focus on recovery from injuries and disability, helping patients regain their abilities so that they can lead more fulfilled lives. You will also use occupation as a tool for recovery, to support people experiencing issues including addiction and mental illness. Duties will include conducting physical and psychological assessment of clients, developing treatment plans and rehabilitation programs making use of our bespoke health and wellbeing services.

The post holder will manage an OT Assistant within the same service.

Main duties of the job

To manage a caseload of service users with complex needs within primary care. Using specialist Occupational Therapy assessment and intervention skills, including sensory processing, postural care, complex equipment provision and a range of functional assessments

To promote occupational choice and independence for individuals experiencing homelessness, advocating for their needs and preferences within the wider network of homeless service provision and beyond.

To use specialist clinical skills to assess and deliver intervention to service users with complex needs within a variety of settings.

To provide leadership and management of the OT Assistant in the team.

To contribute to the ongoing development of health and wellbeing provision at Bevan Healthcare CIC.

To work within a multi-disciplinary setting spanning medical, nursing, social care and allied health professionals as well as charity and third-sector organisations.

To carry out work under the guiding principles of clinical governance and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
