Job summary

We Are Survivors are looking for multiple new staff members to come and join our growing Prison Therapy team.

The organisation has an ambitious strategy to ensure that #NoMaleSurvivorsIsLeftBehind and is looking for a new member of staff to help us achieve this.

The role will support our OUT Spoken service delivering trauma informed therapy from secure estates.

Main duties of the job

Role Purpose

To deliver the organisations quality assured, prison-based trauma-informed therapy services.

Parameters

Be the Thematic Lead for a specific topic (as notified to you), ensuring that the organisation is providing the best possible service to meet the clients needs and that it is responding appropriately to changes within or required by the topic.

Manage a caseload of no more than 25 prison-based clients.

Working with primary and secondary beneficiaries within the organisations area of benefit.

Some local/regional/national travel may be required.

Regular evening work will be required, with some weekend working when needed.

About us

Welcome to We Are Survivors, a survivor focused voluntary sector organisation that aims to create and facilitate safe spaces for male (including trans and non-binary individuals) survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation across Greater Manchester providing to access quality assured support.

Our OUT Spoken Talking Therapy Service has been developed to support serving prisoners across the North West prison estate with a safe space to be able to address often difficult issues and past trauma. We aim to help individuals to better understand the impact of unprocessed trauma, maladaptive coping mechanisms, and often connections to their offending behaviour, all to support the rehabilitative culture.

The service, commissioned by NHS England and supported by HMPPS, is available across the North West Prison estates.

Essential

  • Registration:
  • - BACP, NCS, UKCP (or similar).
  • Qualifications:
  • - Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy (or equivalent)
  • - Safeguarding Children / Adults Level 1
  • - English (GCSE/similar or above)

Desirable

  • Registration:
  • - BACP Accreditation (or similar).
  • Qualifications:
  • - Masters Degree in counselling, psychotherapy.
  • - Certificate / Diploma in EMDR.
  • - PG Cert / Diploma in CBT.

Experience

Essential

  • Knowledge and Experience:
  • - Understanding of issues relating to RASSO (Rape and Serious Sexual Offences), particularly those relating
  • to boys and men.
  • - Experience of providing 1:1 support or advocacy to adults and/or young people with vulnerabilities.
  • - Experience of processing data at a strict confidentiality level.
  • Skills:
  • - Ability to prioritise own work load.
  • - Ability to manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.
  • - Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
  • - Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, or equivalent, and electronic database system.
