Job summary

You will be a qualified counsellor / psychotherapist who holds at least a Diploma in Counselling / Psychotherapy or equivalent and be registered with BACP or equivalent (preferably an accredited member). You will be able to provide evidence of working online with clients as well as CPD or a training certificate for working online. You will understand issues relating to sexual violence, particularly as experienced by males and have experience of working in a highly confidential setting. You will be the thematic lead for a specific topic to ensure we are offering the best service to meet clients needs. You will manage a caseload of no more than 5 clients per working clients, supporting male survivors and their friends and family. Some local/regional/national travel might be required. You will also be expected to work regular evenings and some weekend work if needed.

Main duties of the job

Adhere to the organisations trauma-informed / survivor-centric model and pathway, including those aligned to the NHS (locally, regionally and nationally) and IAPT pathways.

Support the digital client engagement response (email, telephone).

Deliver quality assured trauma-informed / survivor-centric therapy services, in line with the organisations model and pathways.

Engage in peer-support of Trauma Informed Therapy Services staff.

Accurately record Therapy services interventions.

Attend internal meetings in line with organisational requirements.

Engage with and attend relevant external meetings engage, influence and input accordingly.

Keep informed of changes in policy at local and national levels.

Undertake specific Trauma Informed Therapy projects as directed by the Operational Leadership Team.

About us

We Are Survivors, is a survivor focused voluntary sector organisation that aims to create and facilitate safe spaces for male (including trans and non-binary individuals) survivors of sexual abuse, rape and sexual exploitation across Greater Manchester and provide access to quality assured support.

For almost 14 years, Survivors has provided survivor-focused, and trauma informed therapeutic and advocacy support to male survivors of sexual abuse, rape, and sexual exploitation. The amazing work done by Survivors staff is underpinned by Judith Hermans Three Stages of Trauma Recovery. All staff endeavor to provide male survivors a bespoke service to build the skills and techniques to empower themselves and aid them in their healing journey.

  • Experience of providing 1:1 support or advocacy to adults and/or young people with vulnerabilities.
  • Experience of delivering trauma sensitive therapy online/over telephone
  • Experience of processing data at a strict confidentiality level.

Desirable

  • Knowledge and Experience:
  • Experience of working within the Criminal Justice System.
  • Experience of providing formal mentoring relationship.
  • Experience of working within a highly confidential setting adhering to information governance.
  • Understanding of issues relating to rape and sexual assault particularly those relating to boys and men.
  • Experience of working within the voluntary community or social enterprise (VCSE) sector.
