Job summary

37.5 hours a week - Monday to Friday (Evening and weekend work when required to cover events).

This is a temporary contract of 3 to 6 months with the potential for extension.

Tapping House is a leading provider of palliative care services in Norfolk. As an independent charity, Tapping House delivers innovative and specialist rehabilitative therapy, end-of-life care, and bereavement services.

Main duties of the job

The Hospice is approaching an exciting time of year with the planning and delivery of Christmas fundraising events, campaigns and appeals. The Fundraising Assistant will support the fundraising team in delivering effective campaigns and initiatives to grow income and raise the profile of the Hospice in the local community. The postholder will work across all areas of fundraising including individual giving, community, corporate and legacy.

The role will involve building and maintaining positive relationships with donors and supporters and providing exceptional customer service. The role will provide event, campaign and project support in addition to database management and administrative support.

The role is full time on a temporary basis of between 3 to 6 months. The successful candidate will be highly organised, a great communicator, able to work on their own initiative and have energy, commitment and enthusiasm. This role will include lifting, bending and moving of objects. Certain fundraising events will require you to put up and take down hospice marquees.

  • Supporting the fundraising team by assisting with the organisation and delivery of fundraising events, campaigns and initiatives.
  • Assist in the effective running of the office by providing support with enquiries, responding to emails, logging of fundraising post and answering the telephone.
  • To assist with management of the supporter database by creating and updating records and gifts. Recording donations ensuring they are processed quickly, correctly and donors are thanked in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the management of the database by uploading information from third party websites and platforms including Just Giving and Facebook.
  • To provide administration support specifically for the Christmas Appeal including adding gifts, thanking supporters and processing and logging of shop orders.
  • Provide specific support for upcoming Hospice and Third-Party Community Events including Rudolph Run, Shine a Light and Light Up a Life services.
  • To assist across the whole fundraising operation with community fundraising projects and events, corporate events and campaigns, individual giving cash appeals and ongoing donor stewardship and legacy giving administration and major donor support and stewardship.
  • Engage and communicate with different groups of supporters and volunteers either by phone or in person. Provide supervision and support of our volunteers both at events and in the office.
  • To carry out a range of information gathering activities as required including online research.
  • To develop and maintain a sound understanding of the work undertaken by Tapping House and the hospice movement.
  • To undertake any reasonable tasks requested by your line manager.
